Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have investigated cleaving technique and removal technique in a coated optical fiber connection where engineer doesn't have to handle bare optical fiber at field install operation. As regards the cleaving technique we have developed a cost-effective cleaver by changing the method used for stretching and scoring the fibers from electroactuation to a manual movement technique. The cleaver which scores the fiber slowly was effective for obtain a mirror endface. In relation to the removal technique, we have fabricated the coating removal part which changes the shape from a simple circular cone to a circular cone with blades. With this shape the coating can be removed more effectively over a wide temperature range of -10 to 40 ℃.
