Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Speech-rate conversion (SRC) which slows speakers' utterances improves speech intelligibility. At the same time, converted voices may convey emotional impressions different from original speech, and they may impair comprehension of intention and feeling between conversation participants. Elucidation of the relationships between modified prosodic features in SRC speech signals and conveyed emotional impressions is important because emotional impressions in conversations are varied by prosodic features (power, pitch, speech-rate etc.). The aim of the study is developing SRC that maintains speakers' emotional impressions. For the purpose we build a model that describes the relationship between modified speech parameters and emotional impressions. First, conveyed impressions are evaluated by modifying speech rate and pitch. Then, we propose an adaptive algorithm controlling speech-rates and pitches, and show that it maintains and improves emotional impressions.
