Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There is a conventional wisdom that parent-child conflict increases during adolescence. However, recent studies have been revealing that there are considerable individual differences in intensity of the conflicts. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to investigate the sources of the individual differences. To examine the candidate factors, an evolutionary account of the developmental origins of individual differences were focused on. And then, the relative importance of early vs. current (in adolescence) environmental factors for the intensity of parent-offspring conflicts in adolescence was evaluated. The result suggests that although early environmental factors are more important, the amount of friends the adolescent acquires serves as a protective factor toward the conflicts.
