Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Although the development of narratives has been studied extensively, little is known about the individual variabilities in adults, when they are telling stories to young children. The present study examined how professional experiences and awareness of the audience affect strategy use in narrating the Frog Story. The female students were asked to produce written narratives for the purpose of either: 1) making a report for their class, or 2) telling a story to young children. The preschool teachers were asked to narrate a story for young children. The students' strategy use did not differ between the two purposes. Character speech was used more by the nursery teachers, whereas causal connectors were used more by the students. The implications of the group differences were discussed.
