Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The current wave of globalization aided by ubiquitous computing necessarily involves communication-driven interaction and integration among people and human institutions worldwide. Professionals in science and technology, in particular, are expected to have effective communication skills, using English as a global lingua franca. This paper raises an undiscussed issue of a gap between the demand for effective communication skills and the communication vulnerability of those expected to be effective communicators. Based on a survey on temperamental tendencies of university students, the paper suggests a way to develop effective English education curriculum which can be expected to sprout general communication skills development.
