Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the present study, the effect of heart sound on electroencephalogram (EEG) was studied. Before the experiment, the hear sounds of subjects and their mother were recorded. In the experiment the subjects listened to the kinds of the sound and noise, and simultaneously EEG was recorded from them. After that, they had questionnaires whether they felt comfortable and sleepy when they listened to the sound. Using FFT, the spectrum density was calculated and the mean powers over the frequencies of delta, theta, alpha, and beta were calculated. Coherence between EEG at two electrode sites was also calculated. The results show that theta power correlated with the sleepiness score. When they listened to the sound, the coherences of the two recording sites changed. The change of the spatial pattern depended on the source of the heart sound. The results suggest that heart sound induces the information processing in a brain depending on the source of the sound.
