Interactive Digital Signage Introducing Visual Effects and Gesture Recognition

Abstract(in English) In this study, the authors developed the Interactive Niche-Learning (INL) System as an interactive digital signage. The INL system, which uses the Kinect, superimposes viewers on a digital slide-based quiz and enables them to answer the quiz by changing their place on the superimposed image. Through practical use of the system in disaster prevention learning, the authors had an idea that the system should be more interactive by taking the Kinect's advantages so that the viewers can learn disaster prevention (i.e. answer the quizzes) physically with their actions and concentrate more on disaster prevention learning. To realize the idea, the authors extended the INL system by implementing two functions. The extended INL system praises the viewers who answer a quiz correctly by means of visual effects and enables them to answer quizzes with gesture. In practical use of the extended INL system, the authors conducted a simple questionnaire survey.
