Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An easy axis of rubbed polymers with aromatic side-chains depends on liquid crystal (LC) materials. MBBA and some LCs which aligns parallel to the rubbing direction (perpendicular to the slow axis) and other LCs aligning perpendicular to the rubbing direction are mixed. A relationship between alignment direction and mixture ratio of two LCs on the rubbed poly(4-vinyl pyridine) are investigated. The alignment direction of mixture LC is strongly affected by the LC with cyano end group and not by the core structure. An azimuthal anchoring energy is also measured as a function of the mixture ratio.
