Control of Luminescent Properties of UV Emitting ZnAl_2O_4 Phosphor by Impurity Doping

Abstract(in English) Luminescent properties of UV emitting ZnAl_2O_4 phosphor by doping with impurity for formation of oxygen vacancy caused from charge unvalance were investigated. From the results of photoluminescence (PL), the emitting intensity of Si doped ZnAl_2O_4 increased. From FWHM of XRD peaks, it was observed that the crystallinity of the powders became poor. It indicates that the oxygen was removed from the ZnAl_2O_4 lattice by charge compensation caused from Si doping, and oxygen vacancy was formed in ZnAl_2O_4. On the other hand, the absorption edge of PL excitation spectra of Y doped ZnAl_2O_4 was shifted to higher energy. It is thought that the forbidden band was expanded by replacement of Y ion to Al site.
