Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Millimeter-wave (MMW) and terahertz-wave (TW) are attracting a lot of interest in the applications to many fields including next-generation large-capacity communication systems. Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) technology is useful to transmitting MMW/TW signals since these frequency signals have a large loss both in cables and air. However, technology for conversion over 100 GHz signals to lightwave signals has not been established in RoF systems as far as we know. In this paper, we propose a novel electro-optic modulator using meta-material structure for MMW and terahertz-wave. Furthermore, we report two designs of unit cells and a new method for compensation of the light transit-time effect.
