Abstract(in English) A polarization converter using a periodic array of metallic elements is analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method with the periodic boundary condition. First, we evaluate the wavelength characteristics using L-shaped metallic elements. This device can convert a linearly polarized wave into a circularly polarized wave. Next, we consider the effects of arm length and arm width of the L-shaped elements on the transmittance. An improved transmittance is obtained using a modified structure with L-shaped frame-type elements.
