Abstract(in English) A nonreciprocal phase shift (NPS) is useful for realizing a waveguide magneto-optical isolator. Deposition of single-crystalline magneto-optical garnet on a Si substrate is difficult because of the difference in lattice constant. Thus, a waveguide magneto-optical isolator has been fabricated by directly bonding (YCe)_3Fe_5O_<12> (Ce:YIG) on a Si waveguide. A NPS is provided for TM modes in vertically asymmetric waveguides. A NPS for TE modes or both TE and TM modes has not been realized yet. In this paper, we demonstrate an optical isolator fabricated with an amorphous silicon waveguide on a single-crystalline Ce:YIG. Based on this, we propose a novel waveguide structure which provides an equal NPS for TE and TM modes.
