Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The first author Okamoto invented a novel transistor composed of an infrared light-emitting diode and a silicon photodiode in 2011, and he named the new device "distar". The distar operates in the same way as the conventional bipolar (or junction) transistor. Using the distar, it is possible to make a voltage amplifier with a voltage gain more than 40dB. Moreover, current amplifier and power amplifier can be fabricated by combining plural LEDs and silicon solar cell whose light receiving area is far broader than the silicon photodiode. Recently, we have developed a thirty-watt class practical stereo audio amplifier using the distar amplifiers composed of high-power red light-emitting diodes and silicon solar cells. This paper introduces the distar high-power audio amplifier system.
