Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As the number of smart-phones increases, control load to network devices is also increasing in mobile core networks. Prediction and reduction of the control load is therefore the significant issue for mobile operators. However, it is difficult to detect congestion of signaling messages only with load statistics from each device at the initial stages of user-equipment connections because multiple devices interact at the stage. We propose a method that an analytics server predicts congestion by analyzing the traffic patterns at the initial stage. A simulation result shows that the analytics server detected the congestion earlier when the input-traffic rate was 45% of the congested traffic rate. By leveraging the proposal, mobile operators can take effective actions such as improvement of network capacity and traffic engineering in advance of actual congestion.
