Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) If we can monitor heart rate (HR) in real-time from athletes during hard training and from schoolchildren during physical training under blazing sun, it can be used for early detection of their physically hazardous conditions. However, it is difficult to sense HR during exercise, because the HR signal is contaminated with motion artifact (MA). In addition, even in hospitals, because of motion artifact such as brushing of teeth Ventricular Tachycardia (VT), Electro-Cardio-Graphy (ECG) monitor often gives a wrong alarm, which becomes a problem. Therefore, from the view-points of sport medicine, healthcare and clinical medicine, it is essential to sense and monitor HR during exercise correctly and in real-time. We have proposed an MA cancellation technique using an adaptive filter algorithm for Photo-Plethysmo-Graphy (PPG) HR sensing. In this paper, we demonstrate its detailed mechanism for correctly sensing HR during exercise.
