Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, we investigate the influence of network delay on the fairness between two players in a networked game with olfactory and haptic senses by Quality of Experience (QoE) assessment. In the game, each player bursts balloons in a 3D virtual space and gets smells included in the balloons by using a haptic interface device and an olfactory display. The player behaves as an answerer or an impeder. Each balloon includes a smell selected randomly from among three kinds of smells (smells of grapefruit, banana, and apple). The answerer bursts a balloon and answers what is the smell of the balloon. The impeder tries to make the answerer perceive the smell of another balloon by bursting the balloon. The two players compete for the number of correct answers as the answerer. Assessment results show that the fairness depends on the difference in the network delay between the answerer's terminal and impeder's terminal.
