Energy Efficient Multiuser Beamforming based on the User Mobility

抄録(英) In most of previous studies on multiuser-MIMO beamforming, especially for cellular networks, the radio signals are regarded as being transmitted to only a static area. However, the reality is that each user keeps moving from one place to another. Therefore, an efficient beamformed base-station which dynamically changes the beamforming direction is required. In this paper, a scheme of multiuser-MIMO opportunistic beamformed base-station will be proposed. This scheme enables the radio signals from the base station to be transmitted only to the high user-density area efficiently. In addition, the beamformed radio signals' direction also dynamically changed according to the average user's mobility pattern. The users in the low user-density areas can receive the radio signals from the neighboring base station. When the users are equally distributed, the base station changes to the omnidirectional mode. This scheme will result in an energy efficient base station system. The performance of the proposed scheme will be evaluated by simulation by comparing it with a conventional Signal-to-Leakage Ratio (SLR) beamforming method.
