Relationship between TOA and TDOA Location System

Abstract(in English) This paper deals with a range-based target location algorithm. In a TOA (Time of Arrival) system, it is necessary to estimate a receiver clock offset. On the other hand, in a TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) system, it is not necessary to estimate a receiver clock offset. In this paper, we prove that there is not difference between TOA with the clock offset as an unknown and TDOA in estimated location accuracy of the target even when receivers have different measurement accuracy. As a result, we can design a location system more easily using TDOA.
