Abstract(in English) | Wireless traffic expansion will continue due to various cloud services utilizing smart devices, and big-data handling services collaborated by sensor devices. To solve this issue, future radio access including optical entrance networks has been discussed. Especially, the optical transmission between the baseband unit and the remote antenna unit with a wireless interface will be a key technology, because the size of the cell becomes smaller, and much optical link is needed. In this paper, technical trend and standardization activity of the next-generation optical network for future radio access are described, and a perspective of optical-wireless convergence access networks is discussed for constructing knowledge distribution society. |
