Abstract(in English) | Public safety wireless mobile communication systems (PMCSs) are crucial to protect safety and security of society. We have researched applying cognitive radio to the PMCSs so that more robust and higher quality PMCSs can be realized. In this paper, we propose a PMCS's cognitive radio that recognizes radio wave transmission of broadband PMCSs by utilizing narrowband PMCSs to improve uplink communication quality of broadband PMCSs with site diversity. The cognitive radio avoids uplink interference by cognizing position and transmission status of broadband PMCSs through narrowband PMCSs, and then employing adaptive array that directs null toward interference mobile stations and beam toward a desired mobile station. By employing the adaptive array of the cognitive radio, the site diversity can be realized. Moreover, since large amount data on soft decision values that are not decoded in forward error correction must be sent by using narrowband backbone line to realize the proposed site diversity, we propose two information compression methods that can send information without bit error rate (BER) deterioration as much as possible. One method is that received signals multiplied by level of channel state information (CSI) are compressed by using logarithm. The other method is that hard decision values of received signals and level of CSI are send, respectively. These two methods are evaluated by computer simulation. |
