Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) is a recent flexible waveform which is a candidate for future 5G communication systems. With the flexibility of pulse shaping and tail-biting cyclic prefix, GFDM has lower out of band leakage compared to traditional orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM); however, the pulse shaping technique creates non-orthogonal GFDM subcarriers. Because of orthogonal subcarriers, OFDM is highly sensitive to carrier frequency offsets and Doppler frequency spread. GFDM on the other hand, with non-orthogonal subcarriers is less sensitive to frequency synchronization errors. In this paper we investigate a novel technique of adaptive subcarrier bandwidth which makes GFDM even more robust to carrier frequency offsets and Doppler frequency spread. We study the effect of flexible subcarrier bandwidth on bit error rates for GFDM, and we try to mitigate that with an inter-carrier interference canceller, that not only cancels the increased inter-carrier interference (ICI) from adaptive subcarrier bandwidth, but also the self-generated ICI due to pulse shaping.
