Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Vehicular communications for Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is expected to play an important role in the future road safety and smooth traffic flow. For safety driving, both Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Infrastructure to Vehicle (I2V) communications are regarded as an essential means to predict possible collision and support drivers to prevent it. The other potential of vehicular communications is to provide useful information for the drivers around the vehicle. Context-awareness is considered as a key enabler to enhance info-communication technologies, which gathers information around users via wireless environments and adapt the services accordingly. The authors have proposed a Vehicular-to-Machine (V2M) communication system between roadside devices (RD) and vehicle stations (VS). The sensors and devices for V2M network should be driven by batteries for easy installation and maintenance. It is also important for the device to be small and inexpensive from a viewpoint of diffusion. The presentation gives introduction of a proposed system based on IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee and discuss about the issues and techniques for solving them.
