Abstract(in English) Energy consumption during wireless communication has been a significant issue for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets. This paper proposes an offloading method to reduce energy consumption while browsing web pages on mobile devices. We developed a wireless network interface card capable of pre-fetching webpages. By prefetching webpages, the number of interrupts caused by the network interface and interrupt overhead can be reduced. This network interface card is equipped with a NAND storage for storing pre-fetched webpages temporarily. Up to 30% of overall energy consumption can be reduced using this method.
