Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the present study, a speaking task was conducted to investigate how a short-term overseas training program impacted EFL learners' speaking output with a special focus on vocabulary. Thirty Japanese undergraduate learners who participated in a three-week overseas training program were asked to describe three pictures in the speaking task. The same topics were used in the Pre and Post-test without previous notice in the writing task. The results showed increases in Tokens and Types, indicating that learners produced more and used a larger variety of words in the Post-test. Furthermore, the 2,000 word levels were reinforced. The results indicate that even in the short term, lexical search and retrieval processes had improved and led to an increase in spoken vocabulary after a three-week overseas training program
