Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In next-generation mobile networks, a device will be connected to various types of networks, have secure communications, and be capable of continuing communication sessions during mobility across heterogeneous networks. To meet those demands, we have proposed an ID-based communication platform that natively includes ID-based host authentication and interconnects heterogeneous network layer protocols. This platform is favorable for the realization of machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, which is going to a major component of the next-generation mobile networks, also known as the 5th generation (or 5G) networks. In this paper, we describe the construction an ID-based communication technology called HIMALIS, which includes an automatic ID allocation method, secure network access mechanism, and ID-to-location (i.e. IP address) mapping service. It provides a simple programming interface to users for developing M2M applications independently of underlying network layer protocols. We also introduce our recent implantation on sensor devices and demonstrate the proof of the concept.
