Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Antenna spacing of array antennas are basically determined so as not to yield grating lobe. If element antennas are simply thinned, a gain for desired angle degrades and the undesired grating lobe is radiated. In this paper, we propose a sparse array antenna using a pattern reconfigurable antenna. Because the element pattern suppresses the undesired radiation, the desired gain wil be retrieved. Yagi-Uda antenna is adopted as the element antenna. By adding switches to parasitic elements, two symmetrical radiation patterns are obtained. A control line is directly connected to the parasitic elements. And all antennas on H-plane are controlled by only a pair of the control line. This structure enables simple antenna configuration and it can be applied to large scale array. The antenna design and measured results of fabricated antenna are introduced.
