Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The initiation of swallowing reflex are known to have two different types such as voluntary swallowing and reflex swallowing. To clarify such initiation mechanism, many studies have been done to analyze swallowing behaviors under the condition of pharyngeal water stimulation. However, most studies evaluated merely electromyography of related muscles, but have yet to directory evaluate the movement of swallowing organs such as the larynx. Then we applied swallowing function evaluation system SFN/3A that we have developed into this analysis. Experiments using 5 healthy volunteers revealed that 0.3M NaCl solution extended the first phase of the laryngeal elevation in voluntary swallowing by its inhibitory effect, while distiller water shortened the first phase of the elevation by its promoting effect. In addition, reflex swallowing was verified to shorten the first phase of the elevation as well as to extend the second phase, suggesting that reflex motion components of the elevation is accelerated in reflex swallowing.
