Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In ULF-MRI systems with an optically pumped atomic magnetometer (OPAM), MR signals with broad bandwidth are necessary to be measured for better MR images and shorter image acquisition time. The bandwidth of the OPAM shuld correspond with that of MR signals to avoid artifacts of MR images and improve signal-to-noise ratio. Since the resonant frequency of an OPAM depends on the bias magnetic field in the sensing region of the OPAM, the sensitivity and bandwidth can be controlled by tunning the magnetic field distribution in the sensing region. In this study, we designed and fabricated a shim coil system to increase the homogeneity of bias magnetic field and control the gradient field as well toward ULF-MRI with an OPAM.
