Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Stabilometry, which is useful for the quantitative evaluation of equilibrium function, is generally performed by using Romberg's posture. In this posture, stabilometry can detect deterioration in equilibrium function because this posture is unstable with a small support area. For most elderly individuals and patients with equilibrium disorders, it may be difficult to maintain Romberg's posture for several seconds without falling on the floor during stabilometric analysis. The aim of this study is to investigate the control system under the unstable condition. We developed an apparatus for adjusting the tilt angle of the slope on which body sway was recorded. Sixty-nine healthy paid volunteers (age, 13-87 years) participated in this study. Their body sway in Romberg's posture was recorded, and temporally averaged potential function was estimated from the stabilograms. Then, we compared the mathematical models of body sway on slopes with tilt angles of 0°, 10°, and 20°.
