Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In electromagnetic wave scattering problems when the scattering object is much larger than the wavelength, Physical Optics (PO) approximation has been used as a more powerful method compared with methods which solve Maxwell's equations directly. It has the advantages in the adaptability for complex scattering objects and short computation time. In order to perform accurate electromagnetic wave scattering simulations, it is necessary to model the shape of the scattering object correctly. Recently, a method to model 3D shapes of objects by using a point cloud obtained from a laser scanner is getting some attention, and this research examines how to apply this modeling technique in PO simulations. As a preliminary study, the accuracy between the exact solution and PO simulation was examined by creating meshes from the point cloud of a perfectly conducting sphere which is one of the canonical problems in PO approximation.
