Simplified Channel Modeling for Distributed Channel Sounder

Abstract(in English) To implement cooperative algorithms in distributed wireless network, the correlation model of distributed channels are crucial. However, existing distributed testbeds measure the network performance rather than the fundamental parameters which are necessary in estimating the accurate correlation model. Although, existing channel sounder can be utilized to overcome this limitation, it is not easy to implement such a system for distributed measurement in large scale of outdoor environments which requires abundant nodes. Therefore, the portable and flexible architecture of channel sounder is proposed by adopting the open source GNU Radio and Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP). However, USRP has a limited data transfer rate which constrains the channel sounder bandwidth. To solve this issue, the major characteristics of distributed channel are investigated in order to draw its simplified channel modeling. Then, the solution is proposed based on such a simple assumption. The simulation result reveals that the proposed method can be applied in order to overcome the bandwidth limitation of USRP-based channel sounder for outdoor distributed network measurement.
