Abstract(in English) | FSK, GFSK (Gaussian-filtered FSK), or OQPSK (offset QPSK) modulation having envelope of constant or low fluctuations is favourable to short range wireless communication systems consisting of small terminals such as sensor nodes because high efficiency of power amplifiers and low complexity of receiver circuits can be used. For use of ISM bands, spread spectrum modulation is one of the most promising techniques to mitigate the interferences from the other radio systems or among the same kind of wireless systems asynchronous to each other. However, BPSK or QPSK, that has conventionally been used for spreading modulations of direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) systems, makes large envelope fluctuations no matter what primary modulation. In this report, we study the basic property of the DS-SS transmission system suitable for short range wireless systems, for which we use GFSK and OQPSK as primary and spreading modulations respectively. The baseband I-Q signals of the spreading modulation are NRZ pulse terrains bandlimited with Gaussian filter within around the chip rate. The received signal is assumed to be de-spread with a mixer or a multiplier and demodulated with a frequency discriminator after passing a limiter; we evaluated the eye patterns of the demodulator output. |
