Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In visual search, stimulus layouts used repeatedly are learned implicitly, facilitating reaction time for target search(contextual cueing effect). In this study, we investigated contextual cueing effect for stimulus layouts presented outside as well as inside the visual field. This experiment used stimulus layouts shown over three displays located at the front, at the left-rear and at the right-rear. After learning repeated layouts, the layouts of the left-rear and right-rear displays are exchanged. No effect of the exchange would be expected if learning of the layouts were limited within a display. However, we found reduction of learning effect for the target presented at the rear displays. This suggests that not only layout information visible simultaneously within the visual field, but also layout information across inside and outside the visual field is learned.
