Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) With advanced features and the diversification of services for an automobile, various problems of the information security have been arising by connection with the external networks including vehicle-to-vehicle communications or vehicle-to-infrastructure communications. The external connectivity of a vehicle is used by a car navigation service, a telematics service, remote diagnostics, the advanced automatic collision notification system, etc. In this paper, we discuss the security issues of the attacking and the protection mechanism with assuming an in-vehicle unit that is always connected to the Internet. We have designed and implemented a prototype system that can attack the vehicle from the external network. We applied to a real vehicle, and make sure that it is possible to achieve spoofing and DoS attacks to the in-vehicle network, and make discussion about the protection mechanisms.
