Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Persons with severe physical disabilities have to use personal computer (PC) for communication. To do so, they usually use a single switch called "control-interface switch", which can be operated even by a small body movement. Various types of single switches are available now, according to different types of body movements. But the switch operation is easily disturbed with involuntary movements, resulting in erroneous switch inputs. Then we have been developing single switch GSN/1, capable of being operated by a small movement as well as reducing erroneous inputs. However, it needs instruction signals of both voluntary and involuntary movements, being inapplicable to involuntary movements occurring irregularly. Then we developed a novel method merely using voluntary movements as instruction signals. Experiments using several tremor models of 10 healthy volunteers revealed that this method could reduce erroneous inputs during tremor.
