A study of haptic interface to transmit emotion of the actors in a drama

Abstract(in English) When Hearing Impaired Persons watches dramas, it is difficult to understand feelings from the tone of the actors. Consequently, they can't enjoy dramas. There is a way to express a tone of voice by showing a balloon in videos. However, the way has a problem that is difficult to watch videos by a balloon. We achieve the goal which assists Hearing Impaired Persons to understand feelings of the actors of dramas with the multimodal information giving device. In this paper, we propose the haptic interface transmit emotion of the actors in dramas to the fingers of viewer with a small vibrator. And, we report findings of the effect of transmitting intonation by using a vibrator.
