Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) ITU-T P.1501 has recommended a subjective testing methodology for web browsing. This method generally applies to clarify the Quality of Experience (QoE) characteristics for network performance as well as application performance. Test facilities, end user devices, participants, quality parameters, and test procedures are described in this recommendation. There are two web-browsing modes, task-dependent and free-browsing. We point out the evaluation issues related to web-browsing modes are as follows. In the task-dependent mode, the QoE characteristics are thought to be dependent on the order of tasks, but these QoE characteristics have not been evaluated. The browsing time in the free-browsing mode is set between 60 and 120 sec, but it is not clear that browsing time affects the QoE characteristics. The relationship between the QoE characteristics in the task-dependent and free-browsing modes are not clear. Therefore, we clarified the above issues through subjective tests for three websites (SNS, transit, news). We obtained the following results. The QoE characteristics among different orders of SNS site's tasks were the same in the task-dependent mode. As for the three websites, the QoE characteristics for browsing time of 60 and 120 sec were the same in the free-browsing mode. Moreover, the QoE characteristics of delay time between the task-dependent and free-browsing modes were the same for the three websites.
