Abstract(in English) | Store-Carry-Forward Routing is one of the most important techniques in sparsely populated mobile ad-hoc networks. In order to reduce the number of message copies in networks, a probabilistic store-carry-forward routing scheme based on node density estimation has been proposed so far. In this routing scheme, the forwarding probability is set to be low in high node density areas, while it is set to be high in low node density areas. Note that this routing scheme can spread excessively many copies of a message over the network if recovery delay of the message is large, where recovery delay of a message is defined as the duration from the time instant at which the message is generated at the source node to the time instant at which all message copies are eliminated from the network. In order to solve this problem, we extend the above routing scheme by means of an adaptive forwarding probability control, where the forwarding probability of a message is reduced every time its copy is forwarded to a node. With simulation experiments, we evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of the mean delivery delay and the number of forwarded message copies. |
