Abstract(in English) | The impact of laser low frequency FM noise on a 100G DP-QPSK signal was studied numerically and experimentally. Brownian FM noise, which has a broad low frequency spectrum, is used to represent low frequency FM noise. We showed that white FM noise and Brownian FM noise can be considered separately, and Q penalty from Brownian FM noise is determined by the frequency variance within frequency estimation response time τ normalized to symbol rate σ^2_f(τ)/f^2_s. We also studied laser noise with chromatic dispersion and showed that for a Q penalty of less than 0.5 dB to be caused by Brownian FM noise with CD<10,000 ps/nm, the normalized frequency variance is required to be less than 1×10^<-6>. |
