Abstract(in English) | In a coupled-line directional coupler formed on thin multi-layered substrates, it is difficult to match coupled-line characteristic impedance (Z_C) with load impedance (Z_L). This impedance mismatching causes a forward coupling in the directional coupler, which results in degradation of the directivity. In this study, we have proposed a new method for improving the directivity of the coupled-line directional couplers with the impedance mismatching. The method utilizes a reverse-phase forward coupling by an additional coupled line to cancel the undesired forward coupling. It has been experimentally verified that the proposed directional coupler has directivity enhancement of 13 dB at 0.84 GHz compared with the conventional directional coupler. |
