Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper shows a management scheme for Pipeline Stage Unification (PSU) which reduces energy-consumption by dynamically managing the number of pipeline stages. For the purpose of achieving high power efficiency and reduces energy consumption, this paper proposes a management scheme for PSU based on frequency of use of functional units. The experiments using superscalar simulator are performed and the followings are analyzed: (1) program characteristics (2) frequency of use for functional units (3) number of pipeline stages (4) energy consumption. Prom the results of the experiments, the optimum management scheme for reducing energy consumption are discussed.
