Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The Great East Japan Earthquake revealed various difficulties in information and communication infrastructures in the wake of a devastating disaster, such as transmission link disruption, disabilities in information collection, and lack of messages. It is therefore indispensable to construct disaster-resilient ICT networks to cope with next unpredictable disasters. In this talk, we describe our activities on resilient ICT technologies in Research Organization of Electrical Communication (ROEC) at Tohoku University and cooperation with Resilient ICT Research Center at NICT. In particular, we focus on our recent attempts toward constructing disaster-resilient optical networks.
