Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Status of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) examinations of patients with implantable medical devices (IMD's) are rapidly changing recently. The change was apparently triggered by the appearance of MR-conditional cardiac pacemakers, which allow a patient to receive MRI examination under certain imaging conditions. During these 3 years, such pacemaker products have been approved by FDA and PMDA, and thus are becoming common. In this lecture, the background of the MR safety for IMD's, test method for the safety, and the future prospect will be discussed.
