Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Processing in payment at toll takes time, and sometimes causes traffic congestion in the highway. To determine prices of highway fee, the automatic system needs to classify vehicle type into sedan, truck, van, pickup and SUV. This paper proposes a vehicle classification method using geometric pattern and ANN for Toll way. This method initially converts a vehicle image into rectangles, and consider ratio among rectangles in the image. ANN is then used to classify vehicle types by using rectangles edge position. To evaluate the performance of proposed method, experiments with vehicle have been performed, and the results show reliable performance.
