Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we present a high speed simulation method for estimating the packet loss probability of a queue. Usual Monte Carlo (MC) method takes a lot of simulation time if a packet loss is a rare event. To overcome the problem, the frequency of the rare event is increased by applying Importance Sampling (IS) method. We introduce the methods for increasing the frequency, for example, increasing the arrival rate or decreasing the service rate, and then illustrate the determination of the best arrival rate or service rate that achieve the fastest simulation. We will compare the accuracy and the speed of simulation by MC and IS methods.
