Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, a space-division multiplexing (SDM) has a lot of attention in order to realize a much larger transmission capacity than that of single-mode fiber. We considered that the risk of fiber fuse initiation is increased with increasing the input power per fiber by utilizing the SDM. Since the fiber fuse suppression is important in the optical fiber communication system with the SDM, we consider that the characteristics of fiber fuse propagation need to be investigated. In this study, we measured the mode field diameter dependence of the diameter of the melted area which is assumed to be almost the same size as the plasma.
