Performance Evaluation of SIC Receiver considering Error Vector Magnitude for Downlink NOMA

Abstract(in English) This paper presents the link level simulation results of downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with successive interference canceller (SIC) considering error vector magnitude (EVM). In the simulations, we clarify the performance of NOMA with codeword level SIC (CWIC) and the performance of the cell edge user equipment (UE), which does not apply SIC, considering the influence of EVM for 1-by-2 transmission and the number of multiplexed UE is two. Based on the link level simulations, we show that the performance of CWIC is almost the same as that of Ideal SIC when the allocated transmission power ratio of cell center UE is less than 0.3. Furthermore, we also show that the degree of degradation due to the influence of EVM can be within the 0.6 dB (which is almost the same as that of OMA when EVM is the required value in 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE)) when EVM is 4 % and the allocated power ratio of cell center UE is 0.2 - 0.37. On the other hand, we show that the influence of EVM value is marginal for cell edge UE compared to that of cell center UE. However, when the cell center UE uses a higher order modulation such as 64QAM, the required SNR for achieving the block error rate (BLER) of 10-1 is increased due to the increase of inter user interference.
