Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have proposed the world's first optical spatial mode switch. Optical spatial mode switch can use optical spatial mode information in stead of the positional information and change each mode. In the basic optical switch, it is difficult to downsize. This optical spatial mode switch has a possibility to increase the integration density of future optical switch, through reducing the number of optical parts connected to optical switch or downsizing by reducing curved waveguides. In this paper, we report demonstration of the basic principle of the optical spatial mode switch operation.
