3-dimensional Imaging Method Exploiting Full Polarimetric Data for UWB Short Range Radar(ICSANE 2014(International Conference on Space, Aeronautical and Navigational Electronics))

抄録(英) Ultra-wide band (UWB) radar has the great advantage of high range resolution and has promising application to 3-dimensional (3-D) imaging sensors, especially for target recognition in fire disaster situations, where optical sensors are adversely affected by dark smog or high-density gas. As one of the most efficient 3-D imaging approaches, the range point migration (RPM) method has been established, which is based on direct group mapping from observed range points to target boundary points. Also, there are various reports that an exploitation of full polarimetric data can contribute to extract useful information on the target structure, such as in terrain surface recognition by satellite-borne radar. This paper focuses on short-range sensing issue with UWB radar, and proposes a novel analysis method for full polarimetric data, especially for an ellipsoidal target. Furthermore, this analysis enebales us to expand the imaging region obtained by RPM with part of the estimated ellipsoid. The results of numerical simulation verify the effectiveness of our proposed method.
