Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been developing the high-performance ankle-foot orthosis in which magneto-rheological fluid (MRF) brake is installed in the ankle joint. The foot sole switches installed in the heel and toe of the foot-sole and the goniometer settled at the ankle joint were used to decide the state of gait, but these foot-sole switches are fragile and output of the contact time of the sensor on the floor distributed stochastically. To improve this problem, compressive force and bending moment sensor installed in the pylon part at the upper portion of the MRF brake was specially designed and used. The measured data showed improved accuracy and endurance of gait state discrimination.
